God Provides

Thursday 4th September 2008

Well this was the day immediately after Aunty Olga left. Already I was at it and thrilled to be serving! Let me relate the planned part of my day then the unplanned.

I had intended to go to Licensing Office at Port of Spain to hand deliver a letter in order to transfer Colin's papers from the north office to the south office in San Fernando. I did as intended with the normal and expected "delli dallies" or hitches of local government offices. My good friend Michael accompanied me.

That was the planned portion of my day. Now for the unplanned activities. So Nalini (Deaf), contacted me while I was on my way to the licensing office at Port of Spain and asked to me collect two yellow medical forms from the licensing office. It so happened that these forms could only be retrieved after a picture is presented. In other words, I could not collect the form on their behalf. Nalini then asked me to come to her workplace in San Fernando to help Navita and Shiva (Deaf) get their photo and collect the medical form to take to Gulf View Medical. Well, it goes without saying but I'm still going to say it - I was ready to help!!

Michael was so understanding and supportive and he just tagged along...oh my! lol. I'm sure he did not bargain for all this when I asked him to come with me lol. Anyway, Navita, Shiva, Michael and I endured the heat of that hot and sweaty Thursday afternoon and we all went to a Photo Studio for the pics. After which, we walked up High Street San Fernando and (I could only speak for myself) I had NO CLUE how to get a car to go to Licensing Office lol. The sun was just draining my energy. So you know what I did? You don't know!? ...I prayed.

My prayer went something like this: "Dear God, please send a car for us in the name of Jesus"; full stop, the end, amen! This prayer was located on Penitence Street as we were crossing from Shoe Locker to First Citizens Bank. This prayer was answered as we stepped on the pavement in front of the Bank lol. An empty car was driving down Penitence Street into High Street and he took all of us to Licensing Office! Imagine that lol! I asked the driver if he normally collects passengers at that location and he said no. I looked at Navita and Shiva and praised and thanked God!
After collecting the medical forms at Licensing Office we had to go to Gulf View Medical. I wondered how we would be able to travel from there to Gulf View. Very few times if at all, cars would go to Gulf View from the Licensing Office...BUT with God it doesn't matter! lol I said another prayer like the first and we got a car!! Praise God!

That day I went home very happy and contented.

This was an interesting day. It had me in awe at your dedication. It was also the first time i saw deaf people interact. I remember telling you it reminded me of looking at a lawn. At first glance all we can see is the green grass. But if we take a closer look we'll see it filled with activity below the surface. Its the same here. If anyone bothered to take a closer look at the world of the deaf they'll see it filled with activity. That day i felt so proud of you and me walking with you was nothing. What you are doing is something truly special that not much people would do. The fact that you don't get any kind of spotlight for it makes it even more amazing. I believe God is truly proud of you and boasts about you.So chic keep doing what you're doing and i'm here if you ever need anything
