Today was a very upbeat and animated day! I had lots of fun :D
I brought my laptop and my web cam to church. Now, if you know me, I have a little habit of naming inanimate objects like my stuff toys and also my plants hehe. In this case, my web cam is no exception lol. So my Web Cam's name is "Starry" :). By the way, he said hello.
Anyway, Starry was not feeling very well and Kerri was trying to help him. In this process, I was introducing Starry to some of the Deaf. The look on their faces was priceless lol. They actually told Starry hello and at the same time seemed to be confused lol. We outlined his one-eye and ears and mouth and beard lol and they appeared to be fascinated and amazed that I personified the web cam lol.
They did like him though :) Yes, he is lovable ;). They liked him so much that they wanted to see him get better before they left. When Starry finally began to work, they looked at themselves on my laptop through the web cam. They were so intrigued by this experience and everyone wanted to see themselves! One person in particular was Allan. He took it upon himself to dance in front of Starry and pretend to sing! He was so animated and energetic and could careless about anybody around him! lol
That day I went home smiling...Starry too. What we had witnessed was a simplicity that I may have lost or misplaced but recovered that day. The image of Allan dancing enthusiatically with his hands held in front of his mouth like a mic, remains with me. It is an image of childlike freedom and carefreeness. Oh how they are teaching me day by day!
