Well today I was able to have some one on one time with Thaddaeus. Thaddaeus is about 47 years of age and very dramatic in expression. His story is a very moving one.. Imagine a life where you are unable to hear and communicate with others...a lonely life, a silent life, a private life. I can't imagine it! Thaddeaus has only learnt sign language about 6 years ago. So for approximately 41 years he has lived a very silent, tacit and lonely life. His story was extremely hard to digest, I just could not believe it! Sigh... oh how we neglect to appreciate the little things and expend energy on things that sometimes never adds to our life!

There is much that we take for granted!! We complain and fuss and stress ourselves out and here is Thaddaeus, a deaf man who has spent the majority of his life in a silent, still, unaccommodating world and still manages to smile and laugh and bring joy in the lives of those around him!!

Ah, is learning becoming so sophicated that we have forgotten the basics?? I ask God that I never forget the purity and wonder of the common simplicities in life!! It's in the eyes of a smiling baby, the laughter of a child, the smell of a new day, the colours of the yawning sun, the song of our feathered friends, the tickle of the breeze, the hollow voice of falling water. We should never have to pause from our develped world to experience these invaluable simplicities...they are always present..look closer.
