Today Roger visited my home for the first time. I was shocked to see him because I never gave him directions to my home! lol Roger simply found his way there. He pooled together all the information he had and he also stopped along the way to ask people for help. I was impressed.
Pastor Dougie and his wife were coming over for lunch so Mommy decided to invite Roger to stay for lunch as well. I was glad he stayed :)
I was also very proud of Roger. Although getting to an unknown place may be easy for him 
to accomplish, I have observed that many Deaf people dont have such independence and even courage. This is what self-sufficiency is about - getting things done without depending on others. In fact, it's not even self-sufficiency but God-sufficiency. It's about leaning and trusting God to make a way and not looking towards man or even your own abilities to solve problems. I want the Deaf to ALWAYS remember that they are not to put their trust in me or hearing people but in God because it is God who takes care of them.
