Russel - one sheep

Sunday 16th November 2008

Something interesting happened after first service today. Normally I go to First Service and when that is over I move across to Deaf Church. This was Testimony Sunday at church and the testimonies were going beyond 9:30am which is the time that the service usually ends.
For some reason, I just got up and walked out of the service and started heading towards Deaf Church. I had no reason for doing this. I just did it. lol Even more, I used the glass door to walk out instead of the wooden door which is positioned a little further away from the glass door. So while I was passing the wooden door at the outside of the church, it opened. When I glanced across to see who it was, I saw a familiar face. It was a boy I knew from church named Levi. We began talking and I just mentioned quite awkwardly that I was going upstairs to Deaf Church. This statement was ABSOLUTELY irrelevant to the conversation! lol. He asked me to repeat what I said then told me to wait.

When he returned, he brought a Deaf boy with him named Russel. Russel sat in the hearing church not knowing that Deaf church was in session upstairs. I took him there and introduced him to the Deaf. He seemed like a pleasant young man and smiled through the entire ordeal. He seemed happy to see so many Deaf and he even knew a few people. When I learnt about his family background my heart went out to him. I believe that God lead him there and he is now part of our family. Praise God.

"What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying? And if he should find it, assuredly, I say to you, he rejoices more over that sheep than over the ninety-nine that did not go astray. Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish." Matthew 18:12-14
