Martha and Mary

Friday 14th November 2008

On this day I had a memorable conversation with Aunty Olga. We were talking online and she was giving me some sound, godly advice. She told me:

"u must learn to sit at His feet and listen to Him do not get fooled into bein busy and
missin the fellowship with HIm...remember the deaf are not ur boss u receive instructions from the LORD...Jesus kept His focus because He spent time alone with the Father. He had to literally get away...there are times when u need to tell them wait...there are a lot of things that we do that are just things to keep us busy but is NOT what God wants us to do...what does God want to give the deaf?...Ask the LORD and keep the focus do not burn out with petty things...many people will push u to do this and that...but if it is not part of God's plan u will end up bein a busy Martha and missing out "

This was a such a timely message of edification. I was guilty of doing whatever the Deaf wanted me to do. Instead, I should have kept God as my focus and get my instructions from Him! Well, I must admit that I was not spending time at his feet and enquiring about His will for His Precious children. I want to be like Mary sitting at God's feet and hearing from him not like a busy Martha who is too busy to make time for God!! Sometimes I waver between Mary and Martha but I pray that God will cause me to remain focussed on His will for the Deaf, not my will or their will - HIS WILL.

Luke 10:38-42
38As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. 40But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!"
41"Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, 42but only one thing is needed.[
f] Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."
